Frequently Asked Questions

This section will soon contain answers to common questions about the Verdigris — including lore clarifications, design choices, narrative intentions, and how the Sisters of the Tarnished Rose fit into the wider Warhammer 40,000 universe.

A few topics planned for inclusion:

• “Would the Custodes really work with Sororitas?”

A discussion on precedent, exceptions, and why the Verdigris narrative hinges on rare but historically supported circumstances.

• “How do the Verdigris avoid immediate execution by the Grey Knights?”

Clarification on Inquisitorial authority, psychic contamination protocols, and why the events depicted fall within the bounds of extreme-but-canon Imperial necessity.

• “Is this compatible with established Sororitas structure and power scaling?”

An overview of how the Verdigris are positioned not as a power-creep faction, but as a niche, deniable operations cadre within the Ordos.

• “How does this story fit into the current 40K timeline?”

A timeline breakdown showing the Verdigris overlapping seamlessly with the Era Indomitus without contradicting any known lore.

• “What is creative interpretation vs. strict canon?”

A transparent explanation of where the story embraces GW’s built-in ambiguity — and how it uses that ambiguity the way Black Library authors do.

• “Why did you make new units instead of only using existing ones?”

An in-depth explanation of the design philosophy behind introducing new loadouts, armor patterns, and archetypes for the Verdigris.
These additions draw directly from existing GW aesthetics, military logic, and narrative necessity — not power fantasy — and fill narrow operational niches that already exist within the Imperium’s structure.

It will also include the practical, real-world side of things: the desire to learn new skills such as kitbashing, 3D modeling, and digital sculpting.

The Verdigris began as a creative project, and expanding the unit roster was a natural part of that exploration.

• “Are you going to sell books, merch, or miniatures?”

A forward-looking clarification on the scope of the project: what may eventually be published, what will remain free, and what will never cross into IP infringement. There is no intention to monetize anything that violates Games Workshop’s intellectual property, nor to produce models or merchandise that would compete with their products.

Any future offerings — if they ever exist — will be fully original, compliant, and respectful of GW’s ownership of the Warhammer universe.

• “Are you a Games Workshop shill?”

A lighthearted but honest note explaining that the Verdigris is a passion project, not a marketing effort.

While some readers may occasionally interpret enthusiasm or industry knowledge as “apologism,” the truth is simpler: years of experience in design, manufacturing, and distribution of consumer products provide a perspective on how complex GW’s processes really are.

The project is entirely independent, unsponsored, and made purely out of love for the setting — not because anyone at GW asked, suggested, or supported it.
